LA Times Features Puerto Vallarta & Riviera Nayarit Resorts
Last update 17 June, 2013
As one of Mexico’s newest coastal developments, the region surrounding Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit will receive several new hotels.
Located just north of Puerto Vallarta real estate, the stunning Riviera Nayarit region spans nearly 200 miles of pristine beaches along Mexico’s Pacific coast along Banderas Bay at the foot of the Sierra Madre mountain range. Here, a wide variety of resorts, hotels, rental properties, residential communities and condos are available to suit any need, from establishing a temporary or permanent residence, to providing the perfect holiday destination.
“Riviera Nayarit has seen remarkable growth in the development of tourism infrastructure and offerings since our inception in 2007,” Richard Zarkin, who is public relations manager of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau, told the LA Times. “We are very optimistic going into this year and beyond.”
As one of Mexico’s newest coastal developments, the region surrounding Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit will receive several new hotels and other tourist facilities this year, while existing destinations have announced plans for major renovations. This includes the new Iberostar Playa Mita and Tau Resorts Nahui, as well as major renovations at the Grand Luxxe Nuevo Vallarta and the opening of several inland cultural tourist attractions and other offerings.
Situated at the north end of Banderas Bay just 45 minutes from Puerto Vallarta, the new, all-inclusive Iberostar Playa Mita is scheduled to open in December of 2013 and will feature more than 450 guest rooms, an 18-hole golf course, five restaurants, a variety of bars and a kids club, as well as nightly entertainment. The new 172-plus-room Tau Resorts Nahui development is located just 40 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport and is also scheduled to open later this year. Here, guests will enjoy a village atmosphere, a beach club, a golf course, hiking trails and a state of the art oceanfront water sports center.
In other hotel news, the Grand Luxxe Nuevo Vallarta, which opened in 2010 and lies just ten minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, is expanding its total number of rooms to nearly 550 via the construction of a new 144-room tower, while the new Hard Rock Vallarta resort opened last August and major renovations have recently been completed at the Grand Palladium Vallarta Resort & Spa, the Occidental Grand Nuevo Vallarta and the Four Seasons Punta Mita.
New inland cultural destinations in the region include Sierra del Nayar region, which is home to a variety of indigenous ethnic groups and hosts a number of lively and colorful traditional festivals throughout the year. In addition, Lagunas Encantadas is home to three scenic lagoons, a variety of boutique hotels and offers plenty of opportunities for water sports and fishing. Finally, the Nayarit Colonial areas are home to many different historic Spanish structures, such as what can be found in San Blas.
