Think about the type of wedding you want to host, something small and informal or something more lavish.
Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit have access to great vendors, and there are a lot of options for villas and hotels at different price points.
Erin & Jefferson
Prime season (November to April) means higher costs and vendor rates. There is usually a good reason behind hotel price reductions during off season closer to the rainy season. October and May are still very good options.

Hotels and Villas all have pluses and minuses; choosing what works for you depends on your style and chosen locale. Bridal experts agree that if you’re arranging your own wedding without an independent planner, it’s easiest to stay at a hotel that offers planning services and marry on the hotel’s beach. “A resort offers built-in support so you’re not worrying about the details, like who will bring the extension cord. But there are lots of other reasons to go the hotel route. If all your guests are staying together, the logistics of everything from welcome-bag delivery to transport is a snap — not to mention the fact that hotels are accustomed to facilitating smooth transitions between gatherings and supplying a built-in backup space for your ceremony if there is rain. A hotel will also take care of those details of which you may be unaware.
Laura & Yonathan
Villas offer a more personal and often less expensive experience. Families can stay together, kitchens let you save money on food, and kids can go to bed early without breaking up the party. The beach behind the Villa is usually under less-strict regulations than hotels beaches, your wedding planner can decorate to your heart’s content and hold a casual rehearsal dinner or reception that spills onto the sand.
During the lowest season, you will be able to a weeklong stay, and if you have a larger guest list, find a neighboring hotel to host the overflow.
Celeste & William
Villas in residential neighborhoods tend to be less crowded than those fronting condos or hotels, particularly if the beach can be accessed only through private homes distant from public-access point.
Outdoor weddings always involve one guest you can not control: Mother Nature. But there are ways to protect against a weather disruption. Event Planning 101 dictates you should always have a Plan B, even if the forecast calls for nothing but blue skies and balmy breezes. Your wedding planner can arrange for a backup, but without paying a fee for a second locale.
Liliana & Cesar
Providing protection from the sun isn’t the only way you can make your friends and family comfortable. Preferably. holding your wedding ceremony close to sundown and surrounding the seating area. Offer cool water or fresh cocktails so guests can mingle before the wedding.
